Abstract. As a result of the discovery of a unique archaeological monument – the Rubas Fortification of the 6th century in the south of Dagestan – and the archeoseismological studies of its military engineering objects, it was found that they have a number of specific deformations caused by previously unknown historical earthquakes. According to the archeoseismological and geological data at the location of this archaeological monument, traces of the active fault zone were found, the movement on which led to the displacement and distortion of the early medieval monumental defensive wall.

Keywords: Dagestan, Rubas fortification, seismic hazard, archeoseismology, medieval time, seismic deformations, active fault.
